I possess a swimming pool with 2 website hosts and 12 VMs. The VMs are on an connected SR. Currently, the version of XenServer is definitely 6.0.2 and I need to upgrade to 7.1 but I has been wanting to know what's the best way to perform that considering I'meters not an professional. I possess 2 options:
- Make use of Rolling pool upgrade
- Install as fresh the version 7.1
For both, I require some assistance, therefore if I make use of
Going pool upgradeis usually this method stable sufficiently to perform this procedure from 6.0.2 to 7.1? anyone got expertise with that?
Install as fresh the version 7.1, in this case, I would continue in this method:
- close down all VMs
- backup all VMs details with
xe pool-dump-database file-name=backupPool
- detach machine number one from the primary pool
- detach the SR from the primary pool
- install from scrape XenServer 7.1 on server quantity one
- develop a brand-new pool with just server number one on it
- attach the SR to the new swimming pool
- import the backup used at point 2
- now if everything is ok, I should be able to begin the VMs and start once again from point 5 with the machine amount 2
what's the greatest and safest method to continue?
Thanks a lot
